A Duration-distance Based Correction Strategy to Improve Cut-in Scenario Experience for Mass Production Adaptive Cruise Systems

Abstract The adaptive cruise system needs to meet the acceptance conditions of vehicle manufacturer before mass production. One crucial evaluation scenarios is cut-in, especially when distance between target and ego close relative speed has little difference, or in front suddenly brakes. In this paper, desired acceleration jerk are calculated using kinematic equations. reaches state after a period predicted time, where time determined by two vehicles. To improve subjective experience driver cut-in scene, authors propose fuzzy logic correction strategy based on duration-distance vehicle, which changes trend reshaping jerk. Cut-in simulation real-vehicle test results show that can reduce discomfort caused rapid under premise ensuring safety vehicle.
